Today, interventional radiology treatments are first-line care for a wide variety of conditions. Most procedures can be performed on an outpatient basis or require only a short hospital stay and general anesthesia is usually not required. Risk, pain and recovery time are often significantly reduced. The procedures are normally less expensive than the surgical alternative.
